Group Business Story Of Gulshan & Matti

Gulshan and Matti have group business who narrated how they were living life before being a part of CIIP as RMT member in UC Giror Sharif District Mirpur Khas. They had been worked as labor on daily basis, the income from the daily labor was inadequate to meet their family needs.  So often, they were remained hungry.  Gulshan’s husband died in earlier days of her marriage and left her alone to support her family. Her father, mother, younger brothers, younger sisters all were dependent on her. 2 years ago Gulshan and Matti both joined the CIIP as RMT members   to maintain earthen roads, they has been received 3 trainings: (1) Basic Health & earthen road maintenance (2) Gender Equity & Human Rights (3) Basic Business management.

After attending the basic business training Gulshan and Matti both decided to start a group business together.  Gulshan said she was very happy to learn about the training of the Basic Business management. From the first installment both saved PKR 20000 (PKR 10000 each) to open a small cabin in their village, items of daily use were kept in the small cabin to sell to the villagers. They say they easily sell the things as almost all house-holds buy these things from their cabin, and women also come to buy things. Before this project men would buy things and women were not allowed to go out to buy things so the children and women faced lot of difficulties in absence of men to get things of need from main stop of their village. We learnt in the training that we can start a business according to the demand of things. We have bought animals from the saving.  And I am thinking to have saving to invest in the business to grow with good profit in return.  We are happy as now we get PKR 1300 or 1500 bi weekly.  We are thankful to Takhleeq foundation for providing us job which enables us to sustain our livelihood.
